Transitional Housing Program
Hillcrest provides a transitional housing program for the homeless in multiple communities around the Kansas City metro. Housing sites are located in Independence, Sugar Creek, and Lee's Summit in Jackson County, Missouri; in Kansas City in Wyandotte County, Kansas; and in Overland Park in Johnson County, Kansas.
Basic program qualifications
1. Adults must be able to find and maintain 35-40 hours per week of employment.
2. Adult and youth program participants must be able to attend 4-5 weekly sessions for life skills, case management, and budgeting. These will be scheduled around their work and school commitments.
3. Youth program participants must have an educational goal (diploma, GED, college, vo-tech, etc.) and be willing to find 10-15 hours per week of employment.
NOTE: After submitting your online application, please contact the housing site you selected as your first choice, by phone or email. If you do not call the housing site you picked as your first choice on a daily basis, your application will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.
Average waiting list time varies by housing site, but is typically 2-6 weeks. Staff will schedule an interview with you when we have a housing unit available for you. Please call your local housing site with any questions.

Rapid Re-Housing for Families & Youth
Hillcrest also offers a Rapid Re-Housing program through its service offices in Clay & Clinton Counties in Missouri. This program provides case management, housing location assistance and financial assistance to help literally homeless youth, singles, couples and families with children obtain rental housing of their choosing within the Northland (Clay/Platte Counties), Northern MO (Clinton, Daviess, Ray, Grundy, Nodaway, Caldwell Counties) & Northwestern MO (DeKalb, Andrew, Buchanan Counties). A specific Youth RRH program for teens & young adults, including parenting youth with children, age 24 & under, is also available through the Clay County office site.
